Schoeller Arca Systems manufacturer of innovative returnable plastic packaging is making a solid statement towards the industry, their competitors, suppliers and customers. Their goal is to plant SAS forests all across Europe.
The use of returnable plastic packaging is stimulated by environmental requirements. Although plastic packaging has suffered a bad reputation in terms of sustainability, the opposite is in fact true. Returnable plastic packaging systems are durable and last for many years and many journeys. Above all, plastic packaging systems have a 100% recycling capability. It is Schoeller Arca Systems’ goal to convince the world to start using sustainable plastic packaging solutions and thus contributing to making the world a greener place.
“Sustainability has always been top of mind when developing a new product or customizing a product for a particular customer.” Ludo S.C. Gielen - Director of Sales, Innovation and Marketing EMEA comments. “To show people we are really committed, we want to make a solid statement: we will plant Schoeller Arca Systems forests all across Europe.” he adds.
The first SAS forest is located in Belgium. November 15th , Schoeller Arca Systems bvba has planted 104 trees in the first Schoeller Arca Systems forest. The event was organized together with 2 environmental organizations and a local school. In total 1.660 trees will be planted.
‘Godfather’ of the SAS forest in Belgium is Mister Filip Dewulf, a former tennis player who was the first Belgian ever to reach the semi-final at a Grand Slam tournament.
With the SAS forests, Schoeller Arca Systems is supporting the United Nations goal to plant 14 billion trees worldwide (http://www.unep.org/billiontreecampaign/).
For the SAS Forest, Schoeller Arca Systems teamed up with ‘Vereniging voor Bos in Vlaanderen’ (VBV), one of The United Nations partners. On the VBV’s website, http://www.1miljoenbomen.be/, Flemish citizens can register their tree-planting efforts and a live tally is kept online.
Will a plot of new trees make a difference? “We believe it will.” says Ludo S.C. Gielen. Schoeller Arca Systems invites you to support their initiative, or tell them your own ideas on sustainability.
“The most important thing is ‘engaging’” Ludo S.C.Gielen states. That’s why we have started a dialogue with our stakeholders, internal and external customers; to show that Schoeller Arca Systems is not polluting the world, but in fact is contributing in making it a better and greener place. We have to change a set of beliefs not only externally, but most of all internally.
Team up with the recycling industry
To show people their concept works, Schoeller Arca Systems has teamed up with the recycling industry.
The company produces several kinds of plastic containers for waste disposal and recycling. They also manufacture special containers for oil and chemicals and have recently developed a self-loading Big Box solution for hygienic collection of returned PET bottles in supermarkets
One of their typical customers using Foldable Large Containers and Big Boxes is Veolia Environmental Services in France.
It is Schoeller Arca Systems’ ambition to further strengthen their position as a worldwide player with full focus on sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
