Schoeller Arca Systems

Customised solution for Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola required a liquid container more efficient and environmentally friendly than the existing cardboard solution, which was used to deliver beverage concentrates (syrup) to fast food restaurants.

Together with Coca-Cola Schoeller Arca Systems developed a 250-litre foldable Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC), specifically designed for soft drink products. The foldable construction implies that the container can circulate in a system, between bottling plants and recipients, and upon its return it can be folded to save transportation space, creating economic logistics but also radically reducing packaging waste.

The IBC is 12 times larger than the previous solution, 250 liters as opposed to 20 liters, allowing the content last for 2-3 days instead of only a couple of hours. Therefore the new packaging solutions is significantly less time consuming and, therefore, more efficient.
