Schoeller Arca Systems

Company history

Schoeller Arca Systems is the result of the joining together of the Dutch company Schoeller Wavin Systems* and the Swedish company Arca Systems**. As a combined entity, Schoeller Arca Systems is the world’s largest manufacturer of plastic returnable packaging for material handling. The head office is based in the Netherlands.

For many years, the two companies were recognized as market leaders in their respective fields: Schoeller Wavin as the leading the European crate and tray market for the beverage industry and pooling companies, and Arca Systems as the leader in plastic returnable packaging used in a variety of industries.

As Schoeller Arca Systems, we have more than 30 production and sales operations in practically all European countries, on the American continent and in Asia.

The U.S. company introduced its first large, fixed-wall pallet container on the market back in 1979 and the very first Xytec® collapsible bulk container was introduced in 1985. Today, the U.S. company's administrative office is located in Tacoma, Washington state and the production facility is in Detroit, Michigan state.

* Schoeller Wavin Systems was established after a merger in 1999, which united two of the industry’s leading companies in plastic solutions for logistics and product branding. These were the German/Swiss Schoeller Plast Group and the Dutch Wavin Trepak Group, both with over 40 years' experience.

** Arca Systems was founded about 25 years ago, as a division of the Perstorp AB Group, which was previously quoted on the Stockholm stock exchange.
