Schoeller Arca Systems

Company history

Schoeller Arca Systems is the result of the joining together of the Dutch company Schoeller Wavin Systems* and the Swedish company Arca Systems**. As a combined entity, Schoeller Arca Systems is the world’s largest manufacturer of plastic returnable packaging for material handling. The head office is based in the Netherlands.

For many years, the two companies were recognized as market leaders in their respective fields: Schoeller Wavin as the leading the European crate and tray market for the beverage industry and pooling companies, and Arca Systems as the leader in plastic returnable packaging used in a variety of industries.

As Schoeller Arca Systems, we have more than 30 production and sales operations in practically all European countries, on the American continent and in Asia.

The U.S. company introduced its first large, fixed-wall pallet container on the market back in 1979 and the very first Xytec® collapsible bulk container was introduced in 1985.

In March of 2007, the North American market for Schoeller Arca Systems divested its core products, the Xytec® collapsible bulk container and IBC containers to Buckhorn, Inc., in order to showcase more of our unique product line.  The North American Headquarters  was then relocated from Tacoma, WA to Southfield, Michigan in April of 2007.   From 2007-2008 Schoeller Arca Systems, North America, focused on primary customers, iGPS, IFCO and Kroger.

Moving ahead to 2009 we will be looking to expand and grow our market share to encompass, not only North America but Central and South America as well.  We will continue to look for ways to look into the future and develop a diverse line of innovative products that will provide a sound return on a manufacturer's packaging investment and are environmentally kind to our eco-system.

* Schoeller Wavin Systems was established after a merger in 1999, which united two of the industry’s leading companies in plastic solutions for logistics and product branding. These were the German/Swiss Schoeller Plast Group and the Dutch Wavin Trepak Group, both with over 40 years' experience.

** Arca Systems was founded about 25 years ago, as a division of the Perstorp AB Group, which was previously quoted on the Stockholm stock exchange.
